About PDF to Excel

PDF to Excel reads the text layer of your PDF with its layout preserved, splits columns wherever there are wide gaps, and saves the result as an XLSX workbook with one row per text line.

Works best for simple statements, price lists and reports whose tables are aligned text rather than images.

What it does

  • Column detection from text alignment
  • One sheet per document
  • Numbers can be summed after conversion

How to use PDF to Excel

  1. Upload a text-based PDF.
  2. Select Convert to Excel.
  3. Download the XLSX and check column alignment.

Frequently asked questions

Why are some columns merged?

Columns are detected from spacing. Cells separated by a single space cannot be told apart from words in the same cell.

Does it work with scanned statements?

Not directly. Run OCR PDF first to add a text layer.

Limits and privacy

Marked as partially implemented: column detection is heuristic (based on runs of two or more spaces). Merged cells, multi-line cells and ruled table structure are not reconstructed. In-browser fallback: cells are split by spacing on each line, so merged or multi-line cells may land in the wrong column; scanned PDFs have no text to extract.
