About Image Metadata Remover

Image Metadata Remover deletes the metadata segments from JPG and PNG files byte for byte, leaving the pixels untouched. There is no re-compression, so quality stays exactly the same.

For anyone posting photos online who does not want to reveal where or when they were taken.

What it does

  • Lossless: image data is not re-encoded
  • Removes EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and comments
  • Option to keep the colour profile
  • Shows what was removed

How to use Image Metadata Remover

  1. Choose a JPG or PNG.
  2. Decide whether to keep the colour profile.
  3. Select Remove metadata.
  4. Download the clean copy.

Frequently asked questions

Will my photo look different?

No. Only metadata blocks are removed. If you also remove the colour profile, colours may shift slightly on wide-gamut images.

Does this rotate my photo?

Removing EXIF also removes the orientation flag. If your photo relied on it, rotate it with Image Rotator afterwards.
